The Browns add a Buckeye with their first third-round pick.
Tommy Togiai, DT, Ohio State
The selection and write-up were made by Slaytanic Brownie:
Tommy is just the type of defensive tackle the Browns are looking for and if Ohio State had played 13 games like Alabama did, then his stats would have been much higher and I would be talking about someone like Amari Rodgers or Ronnie Perkins. Tommy is such an explosive lineman that is also quick, understands how to get leverage on his opponents and as athletic a defensive tackle as Coach Johnson at Ohio State has ever seen.
Tommy’s hands are key, he stuns them with a violent punch and as he is knocking them off the ball he either sheds them to tackle the runner or is able to get quick pressure on the QB. At Ohio State he was consistently double teamed, so if we add him to the defensive line rotation and someone is double teaming Garrett or Clowney who will be able to double team Tommy? There are only so many offensive lineman to go around and If we have 3 guys that require a double team the math just doesn’t work out for our opponents.
Tommy will solidify our rushing defense and enhance our pass rush so I believe he is a no brainer at 89.
Pokorny: “After going linebacker-cornerback, I like addressing the defensive line here — and how about the fun of a member of the Buckeyes joining the Browns too?”
The Cleveland Browns are up next, fast-forwarding to No. 91, led by Swagnasty.
