The top defensive tackle lasts all the way to No. 25.
Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama
The selection and write-up were made by Topanga Jeff:
The team with the worst record in football last year has already won the lottery, drafting possibly the top QB prospect of the last decade in Trevor Lawrence. At pick 25 the Jaguars go with Christian Barmore, who many see as a top-15 talent in this draft. As Browns fans know, team rebuilds happen more quickly when you accumulate top talent, instead of drafting solely for positional need. With this pick, Jacksonville is getting an instant contributor as a violent difference maker on the defensive interior for years to come.
Pokorny: “While I just liked the Jets going offense-defense, I think the Jaguars should do the opposite and load up on as much offensive weaponry as possible. I might lean toward the best available wide receiver — but at the same time, it’s not a reach to take Barmore here for the Jaguars, so I don’t mind the pick.”
