Browns place two players on the early stages of the NFL Network’s annual Top 100 Players of 2021.

The NFL Network’s annual list of the league’s Top 100 players debuted on Sunday evening and the Cleveland Browns were quickly recognized.

Wide receiver Jarvis Landry came in at No. 94 and quarterback Baker Mayfield followed at No. 71. The list is compiled by a vote of the league’s players.

While this is the sixth consecutive year that Landry has made the list, it is his lowest ranking since 2016, according to NFL.com:

Landry makes the Top 100 for the sixth straight year but at his lowest ranking since No. 98 in 2016. Landry’s numbers were down across the board last season, where he made just 72 receptions (lowest in his career) on 101 targets for 840 yards. He missed out on the Pro Bowl in ’20 after being selected the five previous years. However, the LSU product is still a very viable slot option playing alongside college teammate Odell Beckham Jr.

Mayfield is making his return to the list after missing out a year ago, according to NFL.com:

The last we saw of Mayfield, he was nearly leading the Browns to a huge playoff upset of the Chiefs after playing the best ball of his pro career during the second half of 2020. He’s closed out all three of his seasons on a high note. He’s also gotten off to slow starts each year. Perhaps all the turnover at head coach and offensive coordinator were the primary cause. Will stability on the sideline manifest into consistency on the playing field? Cleveland needs more from its QB in order to fulfill Super Bowl aspirations. Mayfield’s past suggests he’s up for the challenge.

The remaining players will be revealed on NFL Network over the following two Sundays, with No. 40 to 11 on August 22 at 4 p.m., and the Top 10 on August 29 at 4 p.m.

Defensive end Myles Garrett and running back Nick Chubb are likely to be named to the list, while offensive linemen Joel Bitonio, JC Tretter and Wyatt Teller have a (very) outside shot of being selected.
