The Cleveland Browns are two weeks away from their season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. And after seeing their magical 2020 season end in Kansas City, they’ve got a score to settle.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Browns cornerback John Johnson III said that the Browns are going to have “a vindictive vibe” on September 12. While he conceded that they want to win every game regardless, he feels that this one will be special.
“That’s the last one from last year, it’s going to be the first one from this year so there’s definitely a little — it’s a vindictive vibe, you know,” Johnson said, via 92.3 The Fan. “We definitely want to get back at those guys but, you know, I always want to win the opener regardless of who it is so that’s what we got to go out there and do.”
Last year the Browns went 11-5, reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2002, and then beat the Steelers in the Wildcard round for their first playoff win in over 20 years.
But that put them on a course with the Chiefs, and they came within literal inches of reaching the AFC Championship Game before falling short.

The Cleveland Browns spent the ensuing offseason bolstering their depth and tying down key players. They are now listed among the Super Bowl favorites in many sports books.
But if they really want to get 2021 off to the kind of start where people believe in them, beating the Chiefs in Kansas City is the way to do it.
