After signing the former Virginia safety and Super Bowl-winner with the Kansas City Chiefs to a three-year deal, the Browns are moving on from their starting free safety after just two seasons. He will now hit free agency in search of his third team of his NFL career.
Most of Thornhill’s time in Cleveland was spent nursing a nagging calf injury that sidelined him for 12 of his 34 possible games with the Browns. This comes after many were excited about adding a true centerfielder to the defense. That dream, however, never came to fruition in Northeast Ohio.
Add safety to the list of growing needs for the Browns in the 2025 NFL draft with the NFL combine coming up this week. Will the Browns turn back to free agency for a third shot at landing a safety or will they look to draft a young playmaker early this upcoming April?
