The Browns 2 drafted quarterbacks spoke to the media about each other, QB competition
In an event that was ripe for proclamations, drama and sound clips that could be played for the rest of the offseason, Cleveland Browns QBs Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders provided none of that. After being drafted two rounds apart, the more subdued Gabriel spoke first, with Sanders following his teammate in talking to the local media in person.
Both quarterbacks were asked about competing with each other and provided similar answers. Gabriel talked about beating himself from the day before, wanting to “get 1% better” every day. Sanders talked about “me vs me” and not trying to prove anyone wrong, but proving himself right.
Gabriel was more stoic, including downplaying his bird video that was released after the NFL draft:
Sanders was more expressive, smiling often while noting that the blessings in his life have helped him stay even through difficult situations.
Neither quarterback shared any negativity toward the other, with both excited about the competition and being engaged with the team aspect of the process. Much like Day 1 of rookie minicamp, it seems the Browns have found two quarterbacks that will be neck and neck in all parts of the competition:
In the media interview phase of their Browns competition, Dillon Gabriel & Shedeur Sanders had a draw. Both were outstanding.

As Gabriel and Sanders both noted, they are in Day 2 of their NFL process with a long way to go. With the veterans joining the rookies on Monday, the two Cleveland quarterbacks will take their next step in their rookie process.
