The Browns NFL draft will be defined by trading away Travis Hunter, selecting Mason Graham and Shedeur Sanders
The Cleveland Browns finally made the call in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft to select QB Shedeur Sanders. This came as the Browns seventh and final selection of the annual selection event and after the team had already selected QB Dillon Gabriel two rounds earlier.
Despite all of that, the NFL might adjust Cleveland’s schedule due to the presence of Sanders and the focus has already landed squarely on Deion’s son. Whether the city and fans are ready for it, the Browns still do not have a clear answer for their quarterback problem.
“The call” on draft night has been something that fans have been able to see recently as teams’ social media departments use it for content. Given Sanders falling far lower than anyone expected, GM Andrew Berry and HC Kevin Stefanski talking to the quarterback after making the selection was even more anticipated:
“Let’s get ready to go to work and prove everyone who passed on you wrong”

Both Berry and Stefanski made it clear that Sanders’ job is to come in and work hard to earn everything. One line by the GM really caught the attention of fans: “Prove all that passed on you wrong.”
The Browns passed on him six times, including once for another quarterback, which led to some funny reactions from fans:

In the end, Berry and Stefanski are not wrong that Sanders has to come in and work and will have the opportunity to prove teams, including his own, wrong for passing on him. On the other hand, while it doesn’t matter as much for other positions where you are drafted, the quarterback position is very different.
Snaps are very limited throughout OTAs and training camp for quarterbacks and the level of investment often decides who gets the majority of them early. Sanders will start at the back of the line until he’s able to prove he is better than others in front of him.
What did you notice about the call between the Browns and Sanders?
