Browns have ‘sense of urgency’ and ‘accountability’ heading into training camp but do those words matter?

Browns roster might lack some talent but expectations are still higher within the team

There are a few things Cleveland Browns fans agree on, in general, including the desire for their team to win games. There is almost always a general sense that Browns fans want their team to run the ball, stop the run on defense and show heart, even in a modern NFL where throwing the ball, stopping the pass on defense and controlled aggression seem to lead the way.

Cleveland HC Kevin Stefanski’s stoic approach has often rankled fans who want to see more emotion, more screaming and more urgency. Inside of that, fans have pushed for more accountability for players after seeing presnap penalties, drops, missed coverages and details being missed.

According to Browns OT Jack Conklin, “a sense of urgency” and “accountability” are a bigger emphasis this year:

A sense of urgency for the front lines

In many ways in the modern NFL, players are primarily responsible for accountability more than coaches, but Stefanski and company seem to be steering the ship a little differently this year. With a roster that lacks a clear identity on offense, Conklin and the offensive line could set the tone for a surprise season if they have that sense of urgency and accountability and everything goes well.

What do you think of Conklin’s comments? Meaningful change on the team and coaching staff or just words?
