Dawand Jones hurt his knee in practice last week, joins a myriad of key players out for the year
Stop me if you have heard this before, the Cleveland Browns have lost a starter for the season with an injury.
The final story of the Browns 2023 season has not been written yet as the team currently holds the top wild card spot in the NFL playoff picture. Part of the story will include the Joe Flacco section who was named the team’s starter for the rest of the season but injuries will be the biggest piece of the puzzle.
Friday, OL Dawand Jones was added to the team’s injury report with a knee issue. Jones was inactive in Week 14 and now comes news that he is out for the rest of the year:

The rookie Jones stepped in well for Jack Conklin when he was hurt at the start of the season but has dealt with injuries off and on this year as well. James Hudson has been Cleveland’s third right tackle this season but has not played well.
Jedrick Wills is eligible to return from injured reserve. When/if he does, it is possible that Geron Christian could move over from left tackle to right tackle.
Jones joins a growing list of key players not returning in 2023:
- Nick Chubb
- Deshaun Watson
- Jakeem Grant
- Rodney McLeod
- Jack Conklin
HC Kevin Stefanski reported that Jerome Ford’s x-rays were negative but didn’t have an update on Grant Delpit or Juan Thornhill.
