The Cleveland Browns will be without CB Martin Emerson Jr. for the 2025 NFL season after tearing his Achilles tendon in practice on Tuesday. The injury came a few hours after speaking to reporters about having a bounce-back season, something covered here at DBN a few days prior to Emerson making his comments.

Going into the final year of his contract, Emerson’s career started off with a very good rookie season, with a slight dip the following year. Last year, by all accounts, was Emerson’s worst season in the NFL, including a paltry 47.9 overall grade from Pro Football Focus.

HC Kevin Stefanski confirmed the extent of Emerson’s injury on Wednesday morning:

The 6’2” Emerson teamed with Denzel Ward and Greg Newsome II to give Cleveland one of the best trios of cornerbacks in the league in his first two seasons. In three years, Emerson has four interceptions, 34 passes defended, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble, one sack, five tackles for loss, one sack and one quarterback hit.

The former third-round pick will hit free agency next offseason after around nine months of rehab from the Achilles injury.
