If you asked me, “hey Zach…who is the post reliable offensive Brown? I’d say…”Jarvis Landry, duh!!!”
Well…

Well, the most reliable wide receiver on the Cleveland Browns was not as such this Sunday. Jarvis Landry fumbled the football and had two crucial drops that certainly determined the outcome of the game, a 15-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Cleveland.
Yes, so much of the criticism this year has been on quarterback Baker Mayfield and fellow wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. While neither necessarily played outstandingly, they didn’t make the glaring mistakes Landrop, I mean Landry did.
The hardest part about this game is that usually Landry doesn’t drop the ball, doesn’t fumble the ball and makes all of the big plays.
Now, let’s not give everyone a pass.
Odell Beckham Jr. had one catch for six yards the entire game on only a single target. Yes, the same OBJ that used to make one-handed amazing touchdown catches way back when… OBJ and Baker are just not on the same page and that is true whether or not the team ended up winning today or not.
Baker did throw 20/31 for 225 yards. He did not have a touchdown pass. Some of those incompletions came on the aforementioned horrible drops by Landry and company. Even so, there’s a certain something about Baker when one can tell he’s battling those injuries. That he’s unable to make the big plays required to win the game, even if his teammates are failing him on the back-end of those throws. The Steelers defense was able to make the stops needed.
With the loss, the Browns are currently 4-4 and dead-last in the AFC North Division. A team that many had such glorious aspirations for coming into this year and as the season progressed. Now, it’s not looking so great.
Certainly, there are nine games to go in the season and five more within this division. Thus, the team does have plenty of opportunities for redemption. However, with continuous play like these recent weeks. That simply will not happen and this season of dreams will be one of disappointment.
I have an idea and it’s a crazy one…
Let’s catch the ball and even better…hold on to it, too!!!
