The end of an era for the Browns, Nick Chubb as free agency ends with a new team

The end of the Nick Chubb era with the Cleveland Browns was all but official when the team drafted Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson, while giving Jerome Ford a new contract for 2025. Despite the belief that Cleveland could bring back the veteran, GM Andrew Berry all but confirmed that the Browns had moved on from Chubb shortly after the NFL draft.

Rumors popped up that a couple of NFC teams could be interested in Chubb, NFL free agency was mostly quiet for the former star back. After a catastrophic injury to end 2023 in Week 2, Chubb’s 2024 season was cut short by a broken foot, leaving many to wonder if the 29-year-old running back with another significant injury in college had anything left.

The Houston Texans have decided, reportedly, that they believe he does and plan to pair him with fellow AFC North alum Joe Mixon in their backfield:

Sources: #Browns free agent RB Nick Chubb, one of the most decorated players available, is expected to sign with the #Texans on Monday if all goes well with his physical, sources say.

In seven seasons in Cleveland, Chubb rushed for 6,843 yards on 1,340 carries. Barring a return to the Browns in the future, the Georgia back will finish his Cleveland career in third place in all-time rushing yards behind Leroy Kelly (7,274) and Jim Brown (12,312).

A quiet superstar, Chubb gave Browns fans someone to cheer for without having to say a word.

While you’ve had time to prepare, how are you feeling about Chubb’s now certain departure?
