Browns rankings: See where Cleveland falls in the new FV Triangle evaluation tool

July 8, 2025 by Dawgs By Nature

Browns power rankings in a new way from Damon Wolfe and InMotion Football

We are all so close to the start of Cleveland Browns training camp in a few weeks, but oh so far away from really knowing what the team actually is on the field. That generally takes until Week 8, at least, and often until Week 10 or later to really have a good feel.

Last year’s Browns team was basically out of playoff contention by Week 5 or 6 in 2024, but they are hoping that a solid draft class, an upgraded coaching staff, and health will help move the team forward in 2025.

Generally, NFL power rankings are just a way of putting a different spin on what a team’s record is, which is really all that matters, but DBN’s former writer Damon Wolfe has created something new and unique as a part of his InMotion Football coverage: the Franchise Valuation (FV) Triangle:

“The FV Triangle is designed to evaluate how well a franchise is structurally built for sustained success — not just in 2025, but over the next three seasons. In the Browns’ case, the combination of roster and coaching infrastructure is stronger than most would suppose, despite the three wins last year. The big variable now is quarterback development — and how the roster handles pressure in a season that could define the trajectory of this era.”

For Cleveland, as Wolfe notes, expectations are not high coming off last season, but there are some strengths:

Given the team’s struggles, it might be surprising to see Cleveland ranked 17th overall, but there are some clear reasons for that in the strengths column. Replacing an older offensive line will take time, as will swallowing the dead cap, but answering the decades-old quarterback question could greatly help the Browns standing with the FV Triangle (and every other power ranking systems).
