Two days after claiming offensive tackle Kellen Diesch off waivers from the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cleveland Browns released the 26-year-old lineman.
Diesch was waived with a failed physical designation, the Browns announced Thursday afternoon. The 6-foot-7, 300-pounder spent last season with the Steelers’ practice squad before Pittsburgh released him on Tuesday.
Diesch, who played college football at Texas A&M (2016-19) and Arizona State (2020-21), signed as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins in 2022.
He was waived by the team at the end of training camp before catching on with the Chicago Bears, where he remained on the practice squad through the 2022 season. Diesch has yet to appear in an NFL regular season game.
The Browns seem well set at both tackle spots, with 2020 first-round pick Jedrick Wills penciled in at left tackle and veteran Jack Conklin starting on the right side.
Dawand Jones, James Hudson and Hakeem Adeniji are the team’s top depth at the tackle positions.
The Browns are coming off a 2023 season in which they weathered the storm of multiple quarterback injuries to finish 11-6 and earn a playoff berth.
Cleveland eventually lost 45-14 to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round.
