The rumors of Shedeur Sanders going packing from Berea are not slowing down anytime soon. Joe Flacco is handling the keys to the Cleveland Browns‘ offense for now, and Dillon Gabriel is next in line if things start falling out too quickly, too soon.
This creates a strong possibility that the Browns’ front office might consider a trade for Sanders down the road if they get an offer they can’t resist.
ESPN analyst predicts one coming from their season-opening opponents, the Cincinnati Bengals.
Would the Bengals Trade for Shedeur Sanders
Bengals QB Joe Burrow suffered a Grade 3 turf toe injury and significant ligament damage during their 31-27 victory over the Jaguars, which would sideline him for at least three months.
“ESPN sources: Bengals QB Joe Burrow will need toe surgery that will sideline him a minimum of three months,” Adam Schefter reported on Monday.
Burrow’s injury update ignited a plethora of trade rumors. The Bengals are reaching out to several franchises and inquiring about their QBs. It gave the trade talks all the traction it needed.
“The Bengals have been calling around to other free-agent quarterbacks since after Joe Burrow’s injury, knowing they will have to add at least one more to their roster,” Schefter continued in a follow-up post.

There have been several reports going around about the Bengals’ reaching for QBs. According to Easton Butler of Packer Report, one of them is Malik Willis of the Green Bay Packers.
“Cincinnati has also inquired about potential trades for QBs, as the free-agent market is thin, with players like Taylor Hienicke and John Wolford among the most accomplished available,” Max Dible of Heavy Sports reported.
After all this, another report of the Bengals extending a call to the Browns, offering a trade for Sanders, should hardly come as a surprise.
Another reason why it may not come as a surprise would be the rumors of Sanders not even getting reps with the scouting team.
Although they were shut down just as quickly, the fans continue to hold onto their grudges of Kevin Stefanski not giving Sanders a fair chance like Gabriel.
