Browns TE room: Salary cap hits in 2025 – Similar to WR, it’s Njoku…and then everyone else

David Njoku takes the bulk of the tight end cap space.

Next up on our Cleveland Browns salary cap round-up for 2025 is the wide receiver position. You can also see our TE preview.

Let’s take a look at the 2025 salary cap hits for tight end:

Similar to the Browns’ wide receiver position, they have one guy making a lot of money (David Njoku), and everyone else is making relative peanuts. Njoku’s $11.4 million cap hit is higher because he’s in the final year of his contract with the team, so that will be something to look out for. He is not expected to be cut, as there would not be any cap savings; he still has a lot of dead money and guarantees that are on the books. He could be a candidate for a trade, if Cleveland is out of contention at some point.

Njoku’s cap number for 2025 might seem high, but there are 11 tight ends out there who have a higher cap hit this season. It’s the way of the times. That includes Pat Freiermuth of the Steelers, who is making $12.9 million against Pittsburgh’s cap this year.

Harold Fannin Jr is a third round pick this year, so he comes on an affordable deal. Blake Whiteheart is making the minimum, as are the other guys on the roster. There is literally no money to be saved here. This could actually be a position that Cleveland adds cap to at some point, though, if they determine they need to sign a veteran blocking tight end and he costs a couple million.
