Browns Training Camp: 2 important questions around rookies going into camp; what are your big questions?

Browns roster has some questions that need answered

It’s almost getting close to that time. The 2025 campaign for the Cleveland Browns unofficially kicks off this week as training camp begins. Rookies and quarterbacks report Friday, June 18th, before being joined by the veterans on July 22nd. The temperature around the team has fluctuated (mainly due to circumstances out of their control), but going into this camp, there are specific questions that need to be answered.

How many reps will the rookie quarterbacks get throughout the duration of camp?

It’s been a topic of discussion when the Browns drafted both Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. How many reps will Sanders and Gabriel get throughout the duration of camp?

It’s obvious that both quarterbacks have put in the time and work through rookie minicamp, OTA’s and mandatory minicamp. The question is whether Gabriel and Sanders will get enough reps throughout the practice periods and what group they will work with. Will Sanders work with the 2’s and 3’s? (or a mixture of both)? Will Gabriel get an extended look with the 1st team one day while Sanders gets a look with them the following day?

The team will work their way into pads and that’s when the bullets will start flying, but the real evaluation starts during the joint practices and the preseason games. It would be a surprise if Sanders or Gabriel were to be named the Week 1 starter, but it’s a possibility if either quarterback lights it up.

For now, the question needs to be how many reps the two will get?

How will the rushing offense look with a potential Quinshon Judkins suspension looming?

No one would’ve predicted rookie running back Quinshon Judkins to get into legal trouble before training camp, but he did. Considering how he’s facing a possible suspension, it’s best to talk about how the team will be affected by it.

We’ve noted free agent options as well as internal ways Cleveland’s offense could adjust to a Judkins suspension.

When the Browns decided to let fan favorite/future ring of honor running back Nick Chubb go, many within the fanbase were upset by the move. However, drafting Judkins and Dylan Sampson was deemed the next Chubb/Hunt duo. Now we will have to wait.

Sampson will likely be thrust into the RB1 role for now as the team navigates through the uncertainty surrounding Judkins, but the rest of the running back room doesn’t inspire much confidence. Jerome Ford is more of a receiving back with some explosive plays, but hasn’t shown enough consistency. Pierre Strong Jr is more in a special-teams role and no one knows much about Ahmani Marshall.

It wouldn’t surprise anyone if the team decided to bring in another running back (specifically a veteran) to help bolster the room whenever Judkins gets back. For now, the rushing offense took a hit with the uncertainty surrounding Judkins, and with the offense already having questions in many areas, it didn’t specifically need to have another issue that had to pop up.
