Browns Without Starting Quarterback as Ravens Defeat Cleveland 28-3 on Sunday Afternoon

October 2, 2023 by NEO Sports Insiders

The Browns lost to Baltimore on Sunday afternoon as star quarterback Lamar Jackson ran for two touchdowns and threw for two touchdowns in the Ravens 28-3 victory.

The fourth game of the 2023 season was definitely a challenge for Cleveland as  quarterback Deshaun Watson was unable to play due to a shoulder injury sustained in last week’s 27-3 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

“Obviously we got beat,” said Browns Head Coach Kevin Stefanski. “We win together, we lose together, so we’re a 2-2 football team and we’re going to use this bye week to take a deep breath as a team and get ready for the long haul.”

Stefanski also said that he expects quarterback Deshaun Watson to be ready to play in the Browns next game on Sunday, October 15th against the currently undefeated San Francisco 49ers.

Starting in Watson’s place against the Ravens was Dorian- Thompson Robinson (DTR) a rookie out of UCLA who was drafted by the Browns in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL draft.

DTR started the game well and had the Browns moving down the field.

For the contest DTR was 19-36 for 121 yards. In fact, DTR did a good job of spreading the ball around as he completed passes to nine different Browns receivers throughout the game.

However, a main turning point early in the game was a Ravens interception by Brandon Stephens who returned the ball fifty-two yards to the Browns 10-yard line.

After the interception, on the first play of the drive, the Ravens  scored on a 10-yard touchdown run by Lamar Jackson to take a 7-0 lead with 6:38 left in the first quarter.

Overall, Jackson had a great game as he was 15-19 for 186 yards and he threw for two touchdowns.

Jackson, who also had two rushing touchdowns, certainly showed why he is one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL as he scored four touchdowns against one of the best defenses in the NFL.

After Jackson’s first quarter touchdown run, the Browns would also put points on the board in the first quarter.

The Browns scored with 2:21 left in the first quarter when Dustin Hopkins connected on a 53-yard field goal to make the score 7-3.

That would be the only points the Browns would score for the game.

The game was 7-3 until 4:18 was left in the second quarter when Lamar Jackson scored on a two-yard touchdown run as the Ravens extended their lead to 14-3.

Baltimore then added seven more points on a 7-yard touchdown pass from Lamar Jackson to Mark Andrews with 11 seconds left in the first half to take a 21-3 lead into halftime.

For the game, the elite tight end, Mark Andrews led the Ravens with five catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns.

The Ravens scored their final touchdown of the game on a second touchdown pass from Jackson to Andrews with 5:56 left in the game to make the final score 28-3.

The Browns will next host San Francisco on Sunday, October 15th at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
