Be sure to check out all the latest draft-related odds at DraftKings Sportsbook.
We will have all of your Browns-related coverage on the draft here at Dawgs By Nature throughout the weekend. Browns NFL Draft Live Blog
7:00 AM: Good morning, Browns fans, and welcome to our annual NFL Draft live blog! Each year, I like to begin the live blog by taking a look at how the host city has set-up for the draft, including the draft stage. Let’s see how the layout looks for Detroit, Michigan for people who are inside the draft theater, looking out toward the city:
A couple of notes about this year’s site:
- Detroit has been bidding for the NFL Draft since 2017. The draft theater is located in the densest part of Downtown Detroit, which is similar to what Nashville did in 2019, but contrary to what Cleveland, Las Vegas, and Kansas City did over the past three years.
- One of the key selling points for Detroit being selected to host the draft is that it is in the vicinity of other NFL markets like Chicago, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh, per the Sports Business Journal.
- Theater decor will include elaborate LED displays that change colors to match each of the 32 NFL teams, according to the Detroit Free Press. It took four weeks to build the structure, with construction starting March 29.
Here is a cool video showing the last-minute preparations, along with the background scenery:
Final prep. Last of my draft updates! The city is absolutely sparkling tonight. It’s buzzing, people are everywhere and we should be proud. Good luck & thank you so much @visitdetroit @CityofDetroit & all who made this happen. Let’s shine #Detroit #Michigan #NFLDraft pic.twitter.com/NDZg2Qv8PL
