The Cleveland Browns have a crowded quarterback room, but that didn’t stop them from adding another one to the 90-man roster following this weekend’s rookie minicamp.
Cleveland announced this afternoon that they signed Jacob Sirmon, who closed out his college career at Northern Colorado after previous stints at Washington and Central Michigan.
In 2022 and 2023, Sirmon threw for 1,850 yards, 12 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 15 games for Northern Colorado. At Central Michigan in 2021, he appeared in five games, completing 61.3% of his passes for 734 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions.
Sirmon only attempted four passes in two years at Washington, completing three for 28 yards.
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Bothell, Wash. native is now the fifth quarterback on the Browns roster, joining Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston, Tyler Huntley, and Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
Cleveland started an astounding five different QBs in 2023, thanks to a series of injuries, including a season-ending shoulder fracture for Watson, which requires surgery.
Watson started six games before his year ended, while veteran Joe Flacco emerged from his couch to start the final five games of the season as well as the Browns’ playoff loss to the Houston Texans.
Thompson-Robinson, a rookie, made three starts, while P.J. Walker started two contests and Jeff Driskel started one.
Watson, who is still recovering from shoulder surgery, is Cleveland’s QB1 when healthy, while Winston and Huntley provide experienced depth.
