Cleveland Browns Three Free Agency Targets

March 11, 2024 by NEO Sports Insiders

The NFL’s Legal Negotiating Period opens today at 12:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time. This allows all 32 teams across the league to negotiate contracts with any free agent who is still available. Below are some free agents who I think would be great fits for the Browns upcoming season!

Number 1: DJ Reader, Defensive Tackle, Cincinnati Bengals

A force on the inside of the Bengals defensive line, DJ Reader was one of their best defensive weapons. Coming off a season where he only produced 1 sack, he was diagnosed with a torn quadriceps tendon ending his 2023 campaign. Adding a player of Readers caliber can really bolster the defensive line heading into next season!

Number 2: D’Andre Swift, Running Back, Philadelphia Eagles

After Nick Chubb went down the Browns running back room took a massive decline in the overall fluidity of the run game. Adding D’Andre Swift can develop a lethal one two punch when Nick Chubb returns. Swift is coming off of his best professional season with 1,042 yards and 5 touchdowns on the ground. Having a backup like Swift who was coached by new RB’s Coach Duce Staley can help carry this offense while Nick Chubb continues to attack his rehab.

Number 3: Jonathan Greenard, Edge, Houston Texans

With the possibility of Za’Darius Smith parting ways this off-season, it is vital for the team to replace his success with another up and coming pass rusher. A similar play-style to current Browns pass rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo, Jonathan Greenard would provide the Browns exactly what they are looking for. A high motor, sack driven pass rusher, who can wreak havoc against opposing offensive lines. Greenard is coming off of his best season with 12.5 sacks and 1 forced fumble. A player who has experience with new DL coach Jacques Cesaire can really impact the way the defensive line plays next season!
