Every mistake matters in a 4-way QB competition.

Day 2 of Cleveland Browns training camp took place on Thursday. Here is our recap of the session.

Cleveland Browns Training Camp Report – Day 2 (7/24/25)

1. Berry Speaks Before Practice: Prior to practice, Browns GM Andrew Berry talked to the media. It’s no surprise that one of the biggest questions was about rookie RB Quinshon Judkins. Berry was asked if the team would consider not signing him, but he said he didn’t want to deal in hypotheticals and would take it day-to-day as they gather more details.

When it came to QB Shedeur Sanders’ speeding tickets, Berry was more vocal in his criticism in needing to be more smart. Regarding on-the-field stuff, Berry indicated that it’s not out of the question that they would keep all four quarterbacks on the roster.

2. Njoku Returns to Action: After missing Day 1 of practice due to the passing of his father, TE David Njoku returned for Day 2. Still absent were RB Jerome Ford (minor injury) and LB Jordan Hicks (personal issue). After making a nice catch on Day 1, WR Michael Woods was absent for Thursday with a hand injury. Zac Jackson of The Athletic noted that with all four quarterbacks trying to maximize reps, some of the equipment guys had to jump in for receiver reps.

3. Tracking the QB Reps: After getting no quarterbacks reps in 11-on-11s yesterday, QB Joe Flacco was first up on Thursday, getting five reps. That was followed by five reps for QB Kenny Pickett and three reps for QB Dillon Gabriel. After that, the quarterbacks split up into two groups of two again to work in 7-on-7 drills.

4. Deplit With the Pick: S Grant Delpit had a pretty quiet year in 2024, so it’s nice seeing him snag an interception in camp. Interceptions are more important in the quarterback evaluation now that things are tight and being decided on quickly. This interception was thrown by…..QB Kenny Pickett:

6. No Luck in the Red Zone: In red zone reps, Pickett, Gabriel, and Sanders saw action, but none of them were able to get a touchdown. Here are the details:

Late in practice Browns did 11-on-11 RZ.
Kenny Pickett completed 2 short passes to Jerry Jeudy. Mason Graham forced RB fumble.
Dillon Gabriel was 1-for-3 w/shallow cross completion to Jamari Thrash.
Shedeur Sanders was the victim of bad snaps, busted plays. Didn’t get a pass off

7. Drill of the Day: Here’s a nice shot of rookie DT Mason Graham doing an individual drill in camp:

8. The Sanders Daily: Here is a montage of what went wrong for QB Shedeur Sanders during his red zone reps. Something we have to remember is there may be disadvantages down the depth chart for Sanders to show off his talent, when plays are broken before he can even get them going:

9. Brownies: There have been fewer Brownies to report during these first few practices, as much of the attention is on the quarterback situation.

11. Next Up: The Browns will practice on Friday at 2:00 pm. It will be the first of eight practices open to the public. The theme will be “Dawg Pound XL” day. The food truck will be Cle Chicken. The giveaway will be a Rally Towel, courtesy of Gregory Industries.
