Cleveland fails to crack the Top 50 NFL players merchandise list again

The Browns don’t have that league-wide superstar appeal.

The NFLPA released their annual Top 50 list of all officially licensed NFL player products and merchandise.

The merchandise includes a wide range of categories, including adult and youth game jerseys, t-shirts, hoodies, bobbleheads, plush toys, socks, face coverings, headbands, figurines, wall decals, credit cards, backpacks, Fatheads, drinkware, pet products, and more, as reported by more than 85 NFLPA licensees. The time frame for the sales is from March 1, 2024 to February 28, 2025.

For the second year in a row, no members of the Cleveland Browns appeared on the Top 50 player list. The last member of the Browns who appeared on the list was RB Nick Chubb, when he ranked No. 23 in the 2023 season. He was injured for much of last season, though, and is now a member of the Houston Texans.

Last year, we made note of the fact that DE Myles Garrett was absent despite being the Defensive Player of the Year in 2023; however, defensive players typically struggle to rank high in the list compared to offensive players (although the right market can still catapult a defensive player). The only player on the Browns who might have been worthy of buzzworthy merchandise sales last year based on performance is WR Jerry Jeudy. But his hot stretch really only came when QB Jameis Winston was under center, and with the Browns only putting three wins together, it’s hard for fans to get motivated and start spending extra dollars on NFL merchandise when ticket prices are already at a premium.

25 of 32 teams were represented in the Top 50. Sometimes, all it takes is a young quarterback who fans hope to get behind — for example, QB Drake Maye ranked at No. 32 on the list.

What do you think, Browns fans? Could we already have a guy in QB Shedeur Sanders, even as a backup, who could crack the Top 50 this time next year?
