There seems to be conflicting reports this Wednesday regarding Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Van Pelt is still under contract with the Browns.

“The #Browns are going through the offensive staff role evaluation process, source said. RB coach Stump Mitchell has been fired, as @JosinaAnderson reported. TE coach TC McCartney will not be retained. OC Alex Van Pelt remains under contract, with no other final decisions made,” Rapoport said.

NFL insider Josina Anderson, however, was told that Van Pelt was let go by the Browns.

“I’m told Alex Van Pelt informed some of members of the team yesterday he was let go Tuesday afternoon upon hearing this specific news & received messages of condolences to that end, along with Mitchell and McCartney per source,” Anderson said.

Van Pelt has been part of Cleveland’s staff since 2020. Prior to joining the Browns, he spent time with the Bills, Buccaneers, Packers and Bengals.

While it’s possible the Browns make a change at offensive coordinator this offseason, it doesn’t seem like an official decision has been made just yet.
