Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft lands Cleveland ultimate playmaker

The Cleveland Browns will land one mega-athlete or another in the upcoming draft, and prominent draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah has them landing the most versatile of the group, Colorado cornerback and wide receiver Travis Hunter.

While much is subject to change over the coming months, Jeremiah’s insight into teams and the draft usually sets a standard and the general layout for April’s 2025 NFL draft. In his mock draft, he has the Browns taking Colorado‘s mega-athlete, who is still being listed as both a wide receiver and cornerback.

What Hunter will play at the next level has yet to be seen and will likely come down to the coach’s preference, but his incredible versatility and elite athleticism make him a fit on either side.

The Browns may prefer Hunter at receiver, allowing Jeudy to fit back into a complementary role while Hunter takes over as a true top receiver. The mixture of Hunter, Jeudy, and tight end David Njoku would make for a fantastic start to rebuilding an uninspired offense that Deshaun Watson left in his wake.

However, Hunter does project slightly better to the defensive side, where he can be a lockdown, playmaking perimeter corner like his mentor, Deion Sanders, once was. The Browns already have an elite corner in the same role as Denzel Ward but having both would provide plenty of versatility and additional youth.

In this case, I’d expect Travis Hunter to have an increased role on special teams as a returner and still make his way onto the offense for occasional snaps.

Notably, this means the Browns are passing on both quarterback prospects in Hunter’s former teammate Shedeur Sanders, and Miami’s Cam Ward, signaling this to either be a retooling year to build up the roster, or that Cleveland will address quarterback through free agency or trade.

This will be a fruitful off-season for the Browns who are loaded with NFL draft capital and a new direction.
