The Browns have opened quarterback DeShaun Watson’s 21-day practice window. This allows him to get back on the practice field amongst his fellow teammates.
Via AI: ***Deshaun Watson is recovering from a career-threatening injury to his right Achilles tendon, which he initially tore in October 2024 and re-ruptured in January 2025. The Cleveland Browns have opened a 21-day practice window for him, marking a significant step in his return, although his playing status for the rest of the 2025 season is uncertain.***
Now, everyone has an opinion on Watson, 30 years old, and what he did or didn’t do in his personal life since signing his contract with the Browns. That’s up to you to keep or remove your stance with him and what he’s done previously
However, the Browns are 3-9 so far this season and in last place in the AFC North. This season is all but over and everyone knows that in watching this team. Yes, quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders have each shown some potential, yet neither has really shown anything that would lead us to believe they could be franchise quarterbacks of the future.
At this point, my question is – why not?
Why not let Sanders practice and potentially have him start one of the final games for the Browns just to see how he is as a quarterback after recovering from the injury? Most likely, it’ll amount to nothing and that’s fine with how this season is going.
Honestly, many are expecting the Browns to draft a quarterback in the first round of next year’s draft because of said disappointment so far this year.
Let Watson practice with the team, give him the opportunity and if he shines, maybe there could be some discussion for the future, or if he’s terrible, it could end in the disappointment that he’s been these few seasons.
Everyone deserves the chance for a comeback and this could be it. If not, it doesn’t appear like it will hurt this team and build for the future.
After this practice window, it’ll be up to the Browns to activate him to the 53-man roster or he will be done for the rest of the season without the opportunity to play.
