All looked lost for the Cleveland Browns last year when it was announced that Deshaun Watson would be undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery.
However, the team rallied around Joe Flacco and found a way to finish 11-6 and make the playoffs.
Now with a new quarterback room and increased expectations in 2024, the Browns $230 million man is giving fans an update on his recovery and sounding like he’s in a pretty positive place.
“The situation is good,” Watson revealed on his “QB Unplugged” podcast (via The News-Herald). “We’re in a great spot, right where we need to be. We have plenty of time to ramp up the throwing sessions and things like that, but everything is going pretty smooth.”
“As long as I’m feeling well and the doctors and [physical therapists] and everyone are on the same page, we’re in a good spot,” he said.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski also offered his two cents on what he’s seen from his Pro Bowl quarterback since suffering the rotator cuff injury.
“He’s right where he is supposed to be, so I’d anticipate that he’s throwing this spring with us,” Stefanski shared. “We’ll see him in April and we’ll just continue that rehab. I’ll stay out of it, and the doctors and trainers will tell me when he’s ready. I know he’s doing a great job.”
Watson reportedly threw the ball for the first time last week. The Browns are 8-4 in the 12 games he’s been behind center.
