ESPN’s Jeff Darlington had a fascinating statement about the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baker Mayfield on Wednesday.
Darlington thinks that the Steelers would sign Mayfield right away if he were to be cut by the Cleveland Browns.
“If for some reason the Browns, and I don’t expect this to happen, were to cut Baker Mayfield, I think he signs with the Pittsburgh Steelers the very next day,” Darlington said.
Panthers? Seahawks? Steelers? 🤔

It would be a bit of a revenge signing by the Steelers, though that looks unlikely to happen. The Steelers have already signed Mitch Trubisky, plus are expected to draft a quarterback during next week’s draft.
The Browns also aren’t expected to cut Mayfield. They would like to get some value back for him in a trade, whenever that may be.
Cleveland seems intent on being patient with regards to a deal, though there’s a chance one could happen during the NFL Draft.
We’ll have to see where the former top overall pick ends up going into the 2022 season.
