Four-Time Pro Bowler May Revive Career After Devastating Injury – Ravens, Panthers Possible Next Fits

nick chubb injury

Four-time Pro Bowler running back Nick Chubb may revive his career after a devastating injury next season. According to multiple reports, the Cleveland Browns are suffering another blow to their roster as they’re losing Chubb in another major injury setback where he needs surgery. The running back will become a free agent in March and there hasn’t been any word on an extension so it shouldn’t surprise anyone if the Browns don’t extend him. Originally selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the 28-year-old had just come back from a brutal left knee injury suffering from last year so this just puts Chubb back to another major recovery.

However, Chubb says he wants to finish his career with the Browns but that probably won’t happen considering the circumstances of his injury. The Browns probably don’t want to take the risk so what they might do is sign him on a “prove it” type deal to see if he can stay healthy for at least for season. Chubb was hoping to return to the field and put on a strong output to boost his stock in time for the NFL Free Agency in March but that won’t happen. He might not earn full-time duties in the league anytime soon but the running back may garner interest if the Browns haven’t already extended him before he’s available.

Several teams could revive his career as long as he can stay healthy. It’s hard to imagine Chubb’s career going this way after putting on consistent 1,000-yard seasons and helping the Browns to two postseason contentions. Here is why Chubb could find his footing with the Ravens, Panthers.

Vital Support for Henry

The Baltimore Ravens have one of the best offenses in the league this season after signing ferocious runner, Derrick Henry to improve the momentum behind MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson. Even though the defense hasn’t been able to replicate what they’re establishing on offense, the Ravens are still the favorites to make a legitimate run in the postseason if they stay healthy. Henry may be one of the most elite runners that everyone has seen ever in the league but that won’t matter if injuries haunt him.

He’s healthy but the chances of a Lombardi Trophy won’t matter if the Ravens can’t keep him intact. Keaton Mitchell is back but his lack of experience could cost the team in the worst way. If Baltimore loses in the divisional round, they should sign someone like Chubb to improve the running back depth. They can’t afford Henry to miss games so they must reduce the number of snaps he receives.

New Stomping Grounds

On the NFC, the Carolina Panthers are finding themselves in another rebuilding year after enduring two atrocious back-to-back seasons. It’s hard to imagine the team will be a contender anytime soon despite having a solid running back with recently extended Chuba Hubbard. Veteran Miles Sanders will likely have to join a new team this upcoming March so this leaves a bruised Jonathon Brooks who hasn’t been seeing much of the field. Brooks won’t see the field anytime soon but someone like Chubb could recover before the 2025 season and give the Panthers new life.

Chubb wouldn’t need to be full-time the first couple of weeks but something to get some yardage gain behind Hubbard. There’s no word on who will be the starting quarterback next season after Bryce Young‘s performance against the Dallas Cowboys. The Panthers won’t rely on the draft but whoever the signal-caller will be should be reliant on the ground game.
