The Deshaun Watson saga continued with a New York Times article that would make Charlie Harper from Two & a Half Men say, “Woah dude you need to chill with the ladies!” By the way, RIP Berta (Conchata Ferrell). Great character from a great show.
Anyway, the big number is 66 and that represents the 66 different women that Watson allegedly met for massages. Additionally, the Houston Texans helped arranged these sessions for Watson when he was a member of their team.
Here is an example from the New York Times:
One woman, who did not sue Watson or complain to the police, told The Times that he was persistent in his requests for sexual acts during their massage, including “begging” her to put her mouth on his p*nis.
“I specifically had to say, ‘No, I can’t do that,’” said the woman.
Obviously, there is a difference between a massage to help you feel better to play and what was just said by that woman in the article.
Watson is facing 24 civil lawsuits and this number just keeps piling up as there were two more in the last week. I just don’t know how much more the NFL is going to take from this guy and what they feel is worth it.
Before the NYT article, it was already bad for Watson and the NFL’s reputation. What was said in this article by various women about what Watson did or said makes it all worse.
Regardless of the number of games Watson gets suspended. This saga will be hanging over Watson and the NFL once he returns to play. I don’t know if there will be protesters, fans refusing to buy tickets/watch, or bad press on various sites (just look at this NYT article). The bottom line is many are not going to say, Oh, the 10 games are up? Deshaun, you’re a great guy and we love having you in the league now!”
As a Browns fan, I want Watson to play because he’s a talented quarterback and could help the team win many games. Even so, I just don’t know how that is going to be possible anymore with everything that has occurred. It is truly never-ending and the NFL has so much to take into account with a future decision. I will list below to close the article:
—
How many games is the right suspension for Watson?
What will the response be to the suspension?
What will it be like when Watson returns from that suspension?
What will the publicity be from sources like the New York Times (and the GIANT Cleveland Sports Talk)?
Will TV Networks dislike Watson not playing as it hurts the ratings and what they will do?
Will there be more civil suits against Watson in the future?

A lot to take in and that’s why the decision is taking so long to be made by the NFL. The waiting continues but it’s clearly a difficult process.
