Ian Rapoport Names “Most Likely” Landing Spot For Baker Mayfield

April 16, 2022 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield on the field.

Earlier this week, Baker Mayfield made one of his first public appearances since requesting a trade away from the Cleveland Browns organization.

Joining the YNK podcast, the scorned NFL quarterback named the Seattle Seahawks as his “most likely option” heading into the 2022 season.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport disagrees with this prediction.

“I haven’t gotten any sense at all that the Seahawks are that interested,” he said during a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. “… “To me the Carolina Panthers seem to be the most likely spot for Baker Mayfield… The Buccaneers would make some sense to me as well.”

The Carolina Panthers are heading into their second season with QB1 Sam Darnold after a disappointing campaign in 2021. As of right now, the only other quarterback on the roster is backup P.J. Walker.

If the Panthers don’t select a QB in this year’s draft, Mayfield could be one of the team’s best available options. 49ers signal caller Jimmy Garoppolo has also been speculated as a future quarterback option in Carolina.

Rapoport also suggested Mayfield as a possible “high-money” backup for Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Where would you like to see Mayfield land in 2022?
