Kareem Hunt ends "hold in" during team drills on Sunday

August 7, 2022 by Browns Wire

The Kareem Hunt saga may be over before it got more than 24 hours in for the Cleveland Browns. Saturday, Josina Anderson and other reported that Hunt did not participate in team drills as a sort of “hold in” as he wanted a new contract or to be traded.

We covered all the details surrounding this move and his request.

Then, Sunday morning came word that Hunt had asked the Browns to trade him. The team quickly declined his request.

That leads us to Sunday afternoon practice in Berea. The team has a consistent 2 PM practice each day with interviews preceding it. HC Kevin Stefanski wouldn’t comment on Hunt but shortly after the running back’s actions spoke loudly:

RB Kareem Hunt now participating in the first team session today. So, so much for that #Browns

Whether this will be the end of Hunt’s discontent is unknown at this time but returning to team drills quickly is a positive sign. Hunt and his representatives were able to get his message across and put his name back in the collective minds of the NFL and the fans.

Hunt has very little leverage for a trade or an extension. His best move now is to stay healthy and produce in Cleveland in 2022 to set up his free agent contract next year.

After about 24 hours, the Hunt drama may have found the finish line already.
