Finally, a kicker has come off the board in the 2022 NFL Draft. With the 124th pick, the Cleveland Browns selected Cade York from LSU.
York was expected to hear his name called on Day 3 of the draft. Over the past two seasons at LSU, he made 84.6 percent of his field goal attempts.
Perhaps the best moment of York’s career came in 2020 when he hit a 57-yard field goal for the win against Florida.
There’s no guarantee that York will be the starting kicker for the Browns this fall. He’ll have to beat out Chris Blewitt and Chase McLaughlin for the job.

Last season, McLaughlin made 71.4 percent of his field goal attempts. Despite making all of his attempts from 50 yards and beyond, he was just 4-of-10 from the 40-49 yard range.
The most likely scenario for the Browns is that McLaughlin and York have a kicking competition in training camp.
York will join a draft class for Cleveland that also features Martin Emerson, Alex Wright, David Bell and Perrion Winfrey.
