The Browns upgraded their defensive line this offseason, pairing Pro Bowl pass rusher Za’Darius Smith with All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett.
Even though Garrett and Smith haven’t played a single down together yet, he’s already aiming for the stars.
Garrett revealed that he plans on breaking the NFL record for most sacks by a pass-rushing duo in a single season.
“Most sacks by a duo in NFL history is 39? Bet,” Garrett said.
This lines up with what Garrett told Smith earlier this month.
“He sent me a text message telling me that he can’t wait to get going and hopefully we could be the best duo in league,” Smith said, via The Blade. “And I was telling him the D-line, we got to come up with a name for the room. So he was like, ‘All right, I’m going to get some shirts, we going to make it big.’ So that chemistry already, I can tell is going to be great.”

Garrett had 16 sacks last season for the Browns. Smith, on the other hand, had 10 sacks for the Vikings.
If the Browns are going to contend in the AFC North, they’ll need Garrett and Smith to wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks.
The Browns will begin the 2023 season at home against the Bengals.
