Jeremy Fowler divulges information on the Shedeur Sanders selection timeline
The Cleveland Browns were able to select Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the 5th round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler divulged some interesting information surrounding his selection this morning.
According to Fowler:
- The Browns began calling teams to potentially move up for Sanders around pick 135 in the 4th round.
- Deion Sanders facetimed GM Andrew Berry to say thank you for finally selecting Shedeur.
- The overall belief was that most NFL teams had Shedeur Sanders graded as a Day 2 prospect.
“We felt like it got to a point where he was probably mispriced relative to the draft,” Berry said Saturday. “Really, the acquisition cost was pretty light, and it’s a guy that we think can outproduce his draft slot.”
Few notes on Browns’ selection of Shedeur Sanders, via sources:
-Cleveland started calling teams for a Shedeur deal in late fourth (around pick 135)
-Deion FaceTimed GM Andrew Berry to say thank you.

From the sound of it, Cleveland’s front office thought Sanders was just too good of a prospect to keep falling down draft boards, and they started sending out “feelers” almost a full round earlier than where they originally sat at pick 166.
