The DBN staff predicts the Week 5 games, plus the national media make their predictions for Browns vs. Commanders.
Here is what the national media is saying about the Week 5 game between the Browns and Commanders:
CBS Sports (Pete Prisco) – Commanders 28, Browns 17
The Commanders are riding high behind rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, while the Browns are struggling with Deshaun Watson. This is a second straight road game for the Browns and they are really banged up. The offensive line is a mess. Daniels will stay hot. The Commanders keep rolling.
CBS Sports (John Breech) – Commanders 34, Browns 17
Sporting News (Vinnie Iyer) – Commanders 27, Browns 20
Deshaun Watson has plenty of offensive dysfunction around him, from receivers’ mistakes to an inconsistent, Nick Chubb-less running game muddling behind broken blocking. He’s trying to do too much and is ending up doing too little. The Commanders have been much more put together around rookie Jayden Daniels, and Dan Quinn got the front-four pass rush going at just the right time before this matchup.
Sporting News (Bill Bender) – Commanders 29, Browns 21
Two franchises on different trajectories meet here. The Browns are spiraling downward fast. Deshaun Watson has taken a league-high 19 sacks. Washington rookie Jayden Daniels leads the NFL with an incredible 82.1-percent completion percentage. The match with offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury works, and it’s on Myles Garrett and a Cleveland defense to throw Daniels out of rhythm. This line could push up close to game time. The Commanders also have hit the OVER in three consecutive games. Cleveland will be a trendy upset pick, but we will stick with the home team.
