NFL Power Rankings: Top 10 Defenses

October 18, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Defense can win championships. So the importance of playing great team defense is something worth taking a look at. Here is how our NFL Defense Power Rankings look prior to Week 7 of the season.

Top 10 NFL Defense Power Rankings

1. Cleveland Browns

The Browns have an elite defensive unit that can stop the run, get after the quarterback, and force turnovers. They play the Dolphins this week, a team they should be able to beat.

2. Denver Broncos

The Broncos came into the season with one of the top defensive units, and although things haven’t gone as well for them as expected, they are still one of the best around, and they showed it last week in London.

3. Houston Texans

Coming off their bye week, the Texans defense has been solid all season. When their offense was struggling earlier in the season, they were the reason why the team remained competitive. They will have a tough task this week against Seattle.

4. Green Bay Packers

The Packers defense hasn’t played its best so far this season; however, they are one of the more talented units, and at some point, Micah Parsons is going to be fully healthy and make a bigger impact.
