Schedule rumors have already started but here is to hoping the Browns don’t play on the major holidays
The machine that is the NFL marches on with another event that is nothing more than information that could have been an email. That doesn’t mean it isn’t exciting and something to look forward to but, similar to the drafting of players, there is no action on the field (the reason the league is so popular) and yet the NFL draft and schedule release get huge ratings and attention.
For the Cleveland Browns, who have already lost a home game for their trip to London, the schedule will be a difficult one. The list of quarterbacks the Browns defense will have to face is enough to concern even the most optimistic fan.
As the league pushes for a bigger slice of the entertainment financial pie, the NFL plans to continue to play games on Christmas, a recent tradition, on top of the annual Thanksgiving matchups. This year, with all three major winter holidays (Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Year’s) falling on Thursdays, the NFL won’t have to go out of its way to get games on the holidays.
How many games? How much of family time might now have to be spent fighting with football games being on at the same time?
If there is one thing this writer and fan is asking for for the holidays, it is that the Browns do not have games on any of these holidays. Thankfully, coming off a three-win season, Cleveland isn’t the hot commodity right now unless the league believes Shedeur Sanders will be playing and give them some ratings bump.
Just one person’s request.
What about you, do you like having Browns games scheduled on the holidays or prefer to have those days free from games you normally would watch?
