Patriots, Browns Connected In Massive Trade Rumor

November 21, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

The Cleveland Browns did not trade superstar edge defender Myles Garrett at the deadline, which means he will remain with the organization for the remainder of the 2025 season. However, once the new league year begins, look for trade rumors to start anew. Garrett is arguably the game’s best active player, regardless of position, and plays the second or third-most important position in the game. Players like him come around once in a generation, and a competent organization finds ways to win games with someone like him on the roster.

Unfortunately, the Cleveland Browns are not a competent organization. While the defense is great, the organization cannot fix the offense, specifically at the quarterback position. After saying they couldn’t win with Baker Mayfield, the team moved heaven and Earth to land Deshaun Watson in what is now widely considered to be the worst trade in football. Third-round pick Dillon Gabriel hasn’t looked like an NFL starter, and fifth-round pick Shedeur Sanders will have the opportunity to prove himself on Sunday.

With this in mind, Bleacher Report‘s Alex Kay believes the New England Patriots could try and trade for Myles Garrett in the offseason. In a recent article, the NFL analyst proposed a trade where New England received the star pass rusher in exchange for two first-round picks and two third-round picks.

“One of New England’s most glaring issues this year has been an inability to limit opposing quarterbacks,” Kay writes. “…With over $64 million in projected cap space for the 2026 campaign and 11 picks in the upcoming draft, the Pats can comfortably make a run at Garrett when the new league year begins.”

Patriots, Browns Could Agree to Myles Garrett Trade

For what it’s worth, Patriots General Manager Eliot Wolf alluded to a Myles Garrett trade earlier in the year. While he never alluded to the star pass rusher by name, he did say that the team “didn’t feel like giving up 3 [first-round picks] for somebody.” Garrett is the only player on the trade block who could possibly justify three first-round picks, so this suggests Wolf and the Browns have at least discussed the framework of a potential move.

Whether it’s three first-round picks or two firsts and two thirds, Myles Garrett will not come cheap. Fortunately, the Patriots are in a position to spend up. As mentioned in Kay’s article, New England has 11 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, so there should be no shortage of young talent joining the roster. Additionally, New England has arguably the game’s biggest competitive advantage in quarterback Drake Maye. The 23-year-old is already playing at an MVP level and is still on his rookie contract for years to come. New England’s championship window is wide open, and nobody should blame them for going all-in on 2026 with a Myles Garrett trade.
