Nick Chubb is leaving Cleveland, but he has left us with lots of great memories

As the Cleveland Browns prepare to get to work for mandatory minicamp, news broke yesterday afternoon that Nick Chubb will reportedly sign with the Houston Texans. The inevitable now looks official, and the fanbase will say goodbye to one of the most beloved players in franchise history.

Chubb represented Cleveland in a way that few players have ever. His workman-like, no-frills play style won over everyone from the start. Chubb will finish as the Browns’ third all-time leading rusher behind Jim Brown and Leroy Kelly.

We will all forever remember that feeling in our stomach on Monday Night Football in Week 2 of the 2023 season, when Chubb suffered the devastating injury. At the time, there were serious questions of whether or not he could ever play again.

The Browns did everything they could to support the player who meant so much to the city in his comeback. Chubb didn’t look the same in 2024 and had his season cut short with another injury, this time a broken foot.

Let’s remember the good times he gave us by taking a look at his top five moments as a Cleveland Brown. There were plenty to choose from, and boiling it down to five was a tough exercise.

5. November 11th, 2018, Week 10 vs Atlanta Falcons

20 carries, 176 yards, TD

Chubb rushed for the most yards of his career in this one and set the Browns’ record with a 92-yard TD run.

4. September 29th, 2019, Week 4 at Baltimore Ravens

20 carries, 165 yards, 3 TD

This game featured the most touchdowns he ever scored in one game. It was an offensive explosion for the Browns against their division rival on the road.

3. January 3rd, 2021, Week 17 vs Pittsburgh Steelers

14 carries, 108 yards, TD

Chubb helped the Browns clinch a playoff birth in Kevin Stefanski’s first season.

2. September 30th, 2018, Week 4 at Oakland Raiders

3 carries, 105 yards, 2 TD

Chubb broke out as a rookie in this one with one of the craziest stat lines of all time. This was the moment we all knew that we had a very special player on our hands.

1. October 20th, 2024, Week 7 vs Cincinnati Bengals

11 carries, 22 yards, TD

The stat line wasn’t great, but the city saw their favorite son make his return to the field after months of a grueling recovery. The stadium may have never been as loud as when he was introduced before the game and found the end zone, making it a truly special return.

While it is sad to see him leave, I know we will all be cheering for him to find success and end his career on a high note.
