With the Cleveland Browns on their bye week, I thought it would be fun to go down memory lane for this writer, who, like you, has grown up loving his team and hoping one day, the Browns would wind up playing and winning a Super Bowl. Maybe that doesn’t happen this season, but like all fans that love those Brownies, hopefully, we’ll see that before we die. Here’s a look back at some of my favorite Browns memories.
#10 2007 Season Browns 33 Ravens 30 in OT
This was the game that Browns kicker Phil Dawson hit a 51-yard field goal at the end of regulation to tie the game. The thing was that the field goal was originally called no good because it bounced off the crossbar. But upon further review, the ball crossed over the crossbar and hit the pole that made the field goal good. The Browns benefited from the instant replay and then won it a few minutes later in overtime.
If you ask my fellow Oz Chapter Browns Backers about that game, yes, I did leave the sports bar after the Browns lost the lead in regulation with 26 seconds left because Cleveland had blown a big lead in the 2nd half. The game was a good reminder to hang on to the very end because you never know what you’re going to get when you watch a Browns game.
