Top Five Quarterback Prospects in 2025 NFL Draft

January 19, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

2025 Draft Quarterback Prospects

The 2025 NFL draft doesn’t have the same quarterback prospects as 2024, but there are still a handful of exciting options. Whether it’s a day two option with quick-twitch athleticism, or a possible top five pick there’s a ton of variety in the playstyles of these prospects.

Top Five Quarterback Prospects in 2025 NFL Draft

5. Will Howard, Ohio State

Howard’s first few seasons didn’t generate a lot of draft buzz. He’s emerged as one of the top 2025 NFL draft quarterback prospects after a burner in the past month of the college football season. It’s worth noting that he is elevated by the exceptional receivers at Ohio State.

At 6’4″, 235 pounds Howard has more than enough size to survive the NFL. His arm strength is good, not great, but he really needs to focus on his processing and accuracy to earn a starting shot at the next level. He’s improved in yards and touchdown/interception ratio in each of his college seasons.

Expected draft capital: Early day three

Best team fits: Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, Buffalo Bills (as a backup)

4. Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss

Let’s address the elephant in the room. The Ole Miss offense isn’t known for translating well to the next level. While Dart may be playing in a Mickey Mouse offense, his throws are anything but. He throws with great anticipation and is able to layer the ball all over the field. His big time throw percentage to turnover worthy plays percentage is one of the best in a prospect the past couple years (per PFF) so he’s responsible with the ball while also making some exceptional throws.

Expected draft capital: Late day two

Best team fits: New York Jets, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns

3. Jalen Milroe, Alabama

Milroe has all of the tools and athleticism of some of the best quarterbacks in the league. Unfortunately, he still throws like a teenager who doesn’t realize how strong they are. His quick twitch throwing motion leads to some extremely impressive throws, but also leads to him missing receivers by a country mile at times. Not many scouts have a first-round grade on him. But why would an SEC starting quarterback making millions in NIL declare for the draft? Something’s going on here, and Milroe could surprise folks on draft night.

Expected draft capital: Top-50 pick

Best team fits: Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, Cleveland Browns

2. Shedeur Sanders, Colorado

Sanders processes the game extremely well. The way he moves from his first read, to his second, to his checkdown, is extremely impressive. Unfortunately, sometimes he focuses in on Travis Hunter, or tries to use his own athleticism to evade pressure. He got away with some bad habits at Jackson State, and has been punished for them at Colorado. If he tries that in the NFL, he’ll be on the Josh Rosen path to success.

Expected draft capital: Top-15 pick

Bets team fits: Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants

1. Cam Ward, Miami

Ward has ice in his veins. Time and time again Miami’s defense gave up points at the end of the game. Still, time and time again Ward delivered on the big plays. He also relies on his craftiness outside of structure a little too much while lacking elite traits to translate to the NFL, but he’s thick enough and solid through contact so he can be a fun-sized Ben Roethlisberger.

Expected draft capital: Top-ten pick

Best team fits: Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants
