A couple of NFL players are retiring with the Cleveland Browns.

Both wide receiver Rashard Higgins and linebacker Christian Kirksey are going to sign one-day contracts and retire as Browns.

Higgins was picked by the Browns in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft and spent six seasons with them, totaling 137 receptions for 1,890 yards and 12 touchdowns. His best individual season came in 2020 when he compiled 37 receptions for 599 yards and four touchdowns.

Kirksey was a third-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and also spent six seasons with the Browns before finishing his career playing one season with the Green Bay Packers and two with the Houston Texans.

In six years with the Browns, he totaled 463 tackles, 11.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, two interceptions, and 16 passes defended.

Before their NFL careers, Higgins played at Colorado State while Kirksey played at Iowa.

“We are thrilled that Rashard and Christian wanted to come back and retire as Cleveland Browns,” Browns executive vice president JW Johnson said. “Both players obviously made an impact on the field, but they each made a lasting impression in the Cleveland community as well. It’s a testament to who they are as individuals, and we are honored to have them retire as part of our Browns family.”

Congrats to both Higgins and Kirksey on their great careers!
