Why Myles Garrett Has To Break Record Against Steelers

December 27, 2025 by Cleveland Sports Talk

It’s pretty simple, actually.

Honestly, it serves some validity to it. Browns DE Myles Garrett is looking to break the all-time sack record for a single season. Let’s take a look at it:

“The NFL single-season sack record of 22.5 is held jointly by Michael Strahan (2001) and T.J. Watt (2021), a mark that Myles Garrett was chasing in late 2025, as of the search results. Both players achieved this total in a single regular season, with Strahan setting it for the New York Giants and Watt tying it for the Pittsburgh Steelers.”

Here’s the thing… The NFL added a 17th game in 2021. Thus, if Garrett is unable to break the record this coming Sunday, all fans will ever talk about is the fact that he needed an additional game to break the record. (Thus, assuming he breaks it in the last game against Cincinnati).

Regardless, I think it would be cool to see Garrett break the record; however, I do see some validity to what people would be saying if that were to happen in the final game of the year.

The other pretty amazing thing about this game is the fact that Garrett is lining up against one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game, in Aaron Rodgers. What an honor that would be to break the record against.

Let’s see if Garrett is able to make that one special move and get that sack we all cannot wait for to break this record. It would truly be a special moment for everyone in Cleveland and honestly, around the league.

Unfortunately, you just know if it takes Garrett that “extra” game, some fans, especially from different teams, are never going to be quiet about the nuance to get the record… Let’s stop that from happening and give fans no ammunition moving forward.

On a completely different front. Take a look at this other article of mine:
