“YOU NEXT, JOE!” It’s QB Joe Flacco Time in Cleveland

December 2, 2023 by Cleveland Sports Talk

Yes, everything in my life is connected to the ROCKY movies and you can thank my father for introducing me to these hit films. Let’s be honest, you’ve gotta feel some way about ROCKY.

The reason I bring this up is that Apollo Creed says, “You next, Joe” about the real boxer, Joe Frazier who was featured in the first film.

Well, here is Cleveland it’s actually time for Joe to start. This was after quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson took a gruesome shot in the Broncos game. He remains in the concussion protocol and thus will not be in action on Sunday against the 5-6 LA Rams on the road.

Flacco, age 38, has been playing in the league since the 2008 season. This being 183 total games, 3881 completions for 42,420 yards and 232 touchdowns. 11 of those seasons were with the Ravens, one with the Broncos and the most recent three with the Jets. Flacco won the Super Bowl in 2012 with those Ravens.

Via ESPN on Flacco: “He throws a very pretty ball,” wide receiver Amari Cooper said. “I don’t know if it’s intentional or what, but when he drops back and he lets it go, the whole motion is like poetry in motion. It looks good.”

At age 38, Flacco isn’t going to be the same elite quarterback that was all of those years with the Ravens. However, it looks like a solid option to replace an injured DTR. This is going to be the 4th quarterback for the Browns this season following Deshaun Watson, PJ Walker, DTR and now himself.

Flacco will be the 37th starting quarterback for the Browns since the team’s return in 1999. This crazy amount of quarterbacks seems like a never-ending cycle. Tonight, try and name all 37 HAHA! Just kidding…

Well, Joe… You’re next! Let’s see what you can bring to the Browns who are currently 7-4 after a disappointing loss to the Broncos last week. It’ll be a game against the Rams on the road, followed by hosting the Jaguars, in Chicago, versus the Texans and on the road against the Bengals to finish the year.

Joe, we Cleveland fans remember many matchups of you playing for the Ravens and destroying us Browns fans with your dominance at quarterback. Now, it’s time to take that and bring it here in Cleveland as a member of our team. We can’t wait to see what you bring and are certainly hoping for the best.

Also, get well soon to Deshaun Watson and DTR!!! We can’t wait to see them back in uniform as our quarterbacks move forward towards the future. For now, it’s Joe Flacco time.
