It is early in the season, but it is painful to watch your team struggling. Recently, the Guardians had a tough road trip in the Bronx as they were swept by the Yankees. It is frustrating when a player on your team crashes into the wall and is visibly hurt and to add salt to the wound, fans cheered for the player getting injured. Myles Straw came to the aid of Steven Kwan and actually climbed up the left-field wall to confront a fan.
It was a dangerous decision by Straw, though it is important to stand up for your teammate. The Yankees won on a walk-off single and then garbage was thrown onto the field near Guardian outfielder Oscar Mercado. The actions are unacceptable and those fans should be held accountable for their actions. Honestly, it makes all Yankee fans look bad. The Yankees would outscore the Guardians 19-7 in the three-game series.
The Guardians currently have a five-game losing streak as they have lost their first two games of a four-game series against the Angels. The offense has been slacking as they have collected seven hits in two games and scored one run. Thus far, Jose Ramirez has gotten off to a hot start to the season as he is hitting .354 with 23 hits five home runs and 23 rbis in 18 games. Shane Bieber and Zach Plesac have anchored the starting rotation. Despite the cold start, the Guardians are tied for second place in the Central Division with the Chicago White Sox with a 7-10 record. The Guardians face the Angels for two more games before facing the Oakland A’s.
