On Tuesday, April 26th, 2021, the Cleveland Cavaliers were defeated by the Toronto Raptors with a final score of 112-96. Throughout this NBA season, the Cavs have lost many games that consist of blowout scores. This one against the Raptors does not seem much different, but there was a different incident that occurred in this game.
Late in the third quarter of the game, PF Kevin Love basically gave the ball to the Raptors. He went to inbound the ball and pretty much gave it to the Raptors. After inbounding to the Raptors, the Raptors took a three-pointer and made the shot.
It seems during this incident, Kevin Love gave up on his team. Throughout this season, Love has been dealing with injuries and the ability to have team chemistry. He struggles when he is in the game and it is taking a toll on this Cavaliers team. Love is a veteran player and is supposed to be one of the leaders. Against the Raptors, there was no leadership and the inbound turnover really displayed how his leadership is shown.
Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff did not seem pleased with Love’s performance or attitude. It seems that Love has given up as a player for the Cavs and that makes fans of the Cavs a little sad. Love is the last main leader on the 2016 Championship team helping us win a title. It is crazy how things change after just a couple of years.
My final prediction of this outcome is that Love could possibly be off of the team if he does not get his emotions together. If he continues to show the ability to quit, the team will move on from him. It will be interesting to see what happens… What I do know is that if he continues to turn the ball over purposely, he will be off the team.
