Despite their second round exit against the Indiana Pacers last May, the Cleveland Cavaliers entered the 2025-26 season with high expectations after winning 64 games. But the Cavaliers have dealt with injuries to Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen and Max Strus this season and have generally disappointed.
Entering the trade deadline, the Cavaliers have surfaced with the potential of a major move after already trading De’Andre Hunter to the Sacramento Kings for Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis.
“One of the teams you’re hearing a lot about right now out there is the Cleveland Cavaliers,” said Brian Windhorst on Monday’s Sports Center. “I know that they made a move over the weekend- a three-team trade where they picked up a couple of players who were expected to join them this week on the West Coast.
“They are looking around to see if they can do more. Their team has underachieved a little bit. They’ve been dealing with injuries. One thing that they will need to do is to create a roster spot to sign a two-way player. Nae’Qwan Tomlin, who’s been terrific. Lonzo Ball is a player you hear who might go out. But I’m also hearing that they could look for a bigger move. They may still be, you know, making a major move.”
