Cavs Unveil New City Edition Uniforms

November 14, 2024 by Last Word On Pro Basketball

The Cavs recently unveiled their 2024-25 city edition jerseys.

As is tradition in the NBA, the Cleveland Cavaliers have unveiled their latest ‘City Edition’ Jersey. This year’s uniform is reminiscent of the Cavs ‘City Edition’ jersey from the 2022-23 season but does not take inspiration from it. This year’s edition takes inspiration from the architectural design of the west wing of the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Cavs Unveil New City Edition Uniforms

The 2024-25 ‘City Edition’ uniforms will only be worn on occasion by the Cavs. This Sunday, Nov 17 against the Charlotte Hornets will be the first time fans can see the jersey in action. The uniform will be accompanied by a court with a similar baby blue trim. Outside of the Hornets matchup, Cleveland will wear their season-exclusive jerseys five other times

  • December 5 vs Denver Nuggets

  • December 23 vs Utah Jazz

  • January 12 vs Indiana Pacers

  • March 5 vs Miami Heat

  • March 27 vs San Antonio Spurs

Cleveland Museum Of Art

The Cleveland Museum of Art is located in Northeast Ohio and is one of the most distinguished art museums. The museum has over 66,500 artworks from over 6,000 years of work.

“Art and sport are two powerful forms of human expression, and this is a great opportunity to highlight all the ways that they both inspire and connect people from every walk of life,” said Todd Mesek, Chief Marketing Officer at the Cleveland Museum of Art. “This partnership not only celebrates the great traditions that connect us, but also the opportunities we have to inspire the next generation.”

The court the Cavs will play on will be altered as well. The City Edition home court will have a ‘torn away coloring book pattern’. Additionally, the home court logo will be ‘The Land”, in the Cleveland baby blue color to match the jerseys. The right side of the court is a slightly darker blue than the baby blue on the jersey and the left side of the court.

The uniform’s color takes inspiration from the baby blue uniforms that first debuted in 1994. The side of the jersey incorporates the ‘torn away coloring book pattern’ similar to the home court.

“This year’s Nike NBA City Edition jersey honors the rich culture of visual arts in Cleveland,” said Chris Kaiser, Chief Marketing Officer for the Cleveland Cavaliers. “It was designed to take fans back to where most of them first encountered art – through coloring books and paint-by-numbers – while connecting them to a beloved Cleveland institution. This year’s uniform transforms each of its designers into artists and its models into living works of art.”

The main focus of the uniform is to inspire the future generation in the community through basketball and art, two staples of the Cleveland community. The Cavs and the Cleveland Museum of Art will donate $10,000 to the Rainey Institute during the Cavs’ last appearance in the uniform. The Rainey Institute is tailored toward children specifically helping them find and develop their talents.

The Last Word

The Cavs have gone for a baby blue look a few times in the last decade. These new ‘City Edition’ uniforms are no different but offer a slightly sleeker look to previous years.
