Yes, it’s well known about the Cleveland Cavaliers’ preseason struggles over the last few years. Dating back to 2023-24, Cleveland has only won once in exhibition contests in their last 11 tries.
But this shouldn’t be any reason to worry. Why? Because it’s only preseason! The games don’t count!
And don’t let any X accounts convince you otherwise.
I mean, if anything, the preseason is an opportunity to see what sort of chemistry the team can build before the real thing gets going. It also gives a chance to see what the new rookie class can provide in terms of an offensive spark.
Granted, this post is coming a week before the start of the 2025-26 NBA Season. And it is the final contest in the preseason exhibition slate tonight.
In some years, how well or poorly you do in the preseason does dictate how well or poorly the team plays during the regular season. Other years, it can be a complete inverse.
I mean, sure, the Cavs have been struggling in exhibition contests, but they’ve made the playoffs in each of the last three seasons.
Cleveland Cavaliers Preseason Statistics:
Last Preseason Win: Monday, Oct. 16, 2023, vs Maccabi Ra’anana, Israel, 120-89
Last Preseason Win vs NBA team: Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, vs Atlanta Hawks, 105-99
Now, if this were to happen during the regular season, then there would very much be a reason for concern. But, it’s not. We’re still a week out from the regular season even beginning. Breathe, Cavs fans.
Again, there is no need to fret about preseason losses. They don’t count toward the actual schedule. So stop acting like the sky is falling every time Cleveland loses a game that doesn’t count. It’s an overreaction that ends up meaning absolutely nothing.
